Powers and Abilities
Jean Grey is a rarely powerful psychic in that she has dual abilities: both telepathy and telekinesis. It is this potent blend that gives her so much power, as she can control and manipulate everything around her, be it invisible brain waves or the physical world. As Jean, her powers were constrained by psychic barriers, but when her power is fully manifested as Phoenix, she is the only Class 5 mutant alive, marking her as potentially the most powerful mutant to ever live.

Phoenix has unlimited telepathic abilities that are only surpassed by her telekinesis. Able to read and control minds and influence thoughts, Phoenix is able to hide herself from detection by Professor Xavier – the man who had once been considered the world’s most powerful telepath – and also to defeat him in psychic battle. She has been able to read the mind of Nightcrawler, pushing through a powerful serum that impaired his memory, and has also developed a prescient ability to sense the future.

Phoenix’s telekinesis is so powerful that she can influence particles on a subatomic level, meaning that she can rearrange the building blocks of the very world around her at will. As Magneto states, she can literally do “anything [she] can think of”. Phoenix can levitate and move objects and people across rooms, and she can effortlessly accomplish extraordinary feats that no other mutant would be able to do, such as fixing the Blackbird while holding back a massive wall of water. Through affecting the subatomic particles, she can disintegrate metal and human flesh. She has been shown to reverse the effects of gravity and to telekinetically destroy the world around her.
